At their Meeting on Monday,
11 September 2006, Eastling Parish Councillors formally
agreed to appoint Mr Alan Willson as their first Parish
Warden.
The Council was keen that
the Warden should reside within the Parish. A total of 3-5
hours duty per week is envisaged and will attract a payment
of £8.00 per hour. The Warden will report regularly
to the Parish Council.
The following "job description"
gives a good idea of what the new Parish Warden will do.
Co-ordination of the Neighbourhood
Watch Scheme within the Parish area:
The Warden will need to be fully aware
of the aims and objectives of the Scheme and be available
to support and liaise with the local representative and
the County Scheme Coordinator.
Liaison with Kent County Constabulary:
The Force operates a number of departments
giving police cover to rural areas. These include the Divisional
Officers at Sittingbourne and the Force Rural Patrol Units.
The Warden will be required to develop lines of communication
with the relevant officers. This will include communication
by e-mail through the Parish Office, attendance at meetings
and dealing with correspondence. The Warden will act as
central point to ensure information is passed to the Community.
Development and implementation of a
Community Safety and Patrol Policy:
A key aspect of the Warden's work is to
be a visible and available presence within the community.
The Warden will be expected to develop processes to ensure
that the Community may meet with and contact the Warden
in confidence at reasonable times. The Policy will be presented
to the Parish Council and subject to continuing review and
development.
Provision of Community Development
Support:
Throughout the Parish a number of groups
are involved in differing activities and the Warden will be
required to liaise with these groups to develop 'community
spirit'. The needs of all groups, ages and interests must
be served and the Warden will act as a focal point to ensure
local matters are amicably resolved. |
