Tracing Your Family History

From time to time, visitors to the Eastling Village website ask if we can help them to trace records of ancestors who may have lived in Eastling.

Whilst we will try to assist, the following websites are good places to begin any research:

Kent Genealogy web site: http://home.thezone.net/~mrawson/

Kent Family History Society: http://www.canterhill.co.uk/kfhs/

Kent Family History Research: http://www.kentgen.com/

About Eastling Church's Marriage Registers

Normally, marriage registers are not stored in churches after they are full and this is the case at Eastling Parish Church. Locally, one copy goes to the Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths and the other to the Canterbury Cathedral Archives.

The Archives department staff can normally produce a copy of a marriage certificate, if they are provided with the necessary details of date, and names of the couple. There is a charge for a copy certificate (currently £7.00) and there might be an additional charge for a 'search' fee.

For more details, contact: The Cathedral Archivist, Cathedral House, The Precincts, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 2EH. ( 01227-865330, Fax 01227-865222, e-mail enquiries@Canterbury-cathedral.org
